ABOUT LA GOMERA
La Gomera is the second smallest Canary Island, from the coast, you will notice that La Gomera has a lot of small beaches dotted at the foot of large cliffs formed by volcanic erruptions over the years.
These giant cliffs and gorges make for some spectacular walking or hiking trips with some incredible scenery and views.
Also, due to the rough terrain and problems travelling one place to the next, the Gomerons made their own language that could be heard and identified from one side to another, a whistling language, still practiced and taught today in schools.
Further inland on this little island is a protected forrest where indiginous pines grow, covered in moss and ferns, it is often quite cool in the shelter of their branches.

WALKING & DAY TRIPS
La Gomera is a very pretty island full of natural gorges formed by volcanic rock. It is also the closest island to Tenerife which gives it amazing views of Papa Teide (as above). With its unique fauna, the island offers many different walks with stunning view points.
Christopher Colombus stopped in La Gomera last before turning to America, where Beatriz de Bobadilla helped him with supplies and water for his whole crew.

RECOMMENDED RESTAURANTS
La Gomeras is well known for simple home cooked food with specialities in ‘almogrote’, a spicy cheese pate, canarian potatoes, ‘escaldon’ a typical gofio dish with a fish or meat base, seafood and their famous biscuits from recipes that are centuries old.
